Chicago’s Comic: Jeremiah Frazier
Q: What inspired you to start stand-up comedy?
A: I have always been naturally funny and I wanted to expand on that. I love seeing people enjoying themselves. Maybe it’s the LEO in me but the love of people have definitely inspired me.
Q: Describe your first performance?
A: My first stand-up performance was nerve-racking. I didn’t know what to expect. It was actually a competition with about seven other comedians as a finalist in 2007 and I ended up winning first place. I haven’t looked back since.
Q: Do you have “pre-show” rituals? If so, what are they?
A: I just Pray and Pray again.
Q: Where in the world is your favorite place to perform stand-up? Why is this your favorite place?
A: Livin Clean, West Side of Chicago… it’s intimate and cozy. You can always count on a great crowd. Small comedy clubs are where some of your best work can be created.
Q: What shows, podcasts, blogs do you produce or co-produce?
A: I am the producer of several spoof videos and sketches under the tagline JeremiahFunny. Included are spoofs of R. Kelly, Joel Olsteen, and more.
Q: What are three of your favorite things?
A: Music, Comedy, Family
Q: What is your favorite sammich?
A: Egg and Mushroom Epic Burger.
Q: What’s one thing people assume about you, that is or isn’t true?
A: People don’t think I can be funny without cussing. I’ve been going 10 years strong.
Q: If you weren’t a comic, what other job would you love to do?
A: I would be a club owner in Miami or LA or a school principal. I know those are two totally different things but you can wear suits to both.
Q: What are some comedy goals/dreams you have on your To Do List?
A: My goal is to spread laughter to as many people that are in need of it.
Q: What quality, trait, and/or body part do you really like about your-self?
A: I love that I can discern things and that I’m spontaneous.
Q: What’s one thing you wish more people knew about you? [or anything else you’d like mentioned, i.e. your education, personal life or mission statement]
A: I wish more people knew I earned a lot of what I have achieved. I have a Bachelors from Columbia College. I have been onstage since 1996 performing roles like Willy Wonka, The Cowardly Lion and a host of improv sketches and shows.
Q: How will you know you “Made It?”
A: I know I already made it. Everyone’s life isn’t set up to have all the glamour. The fact that I’ve exceeded my own expectations means a great deal to me.
